Code of Conduct¶
The hierarchical structure of the academic world tends to perpetuate and conceal power abuses. This disproportionately impacts vulnerable groups and minorities. It's important to note that many of the people involved in scientific activities are students and professionals in unstable positions, making them especially vulnerable to different types of abuse.
- We allow people to speak without interrupting them.
-
We do not show disrespect or harass other persons:
- We do not make jokes about other people’s personal attributes.
- We refrain from using words that would be censored in public broadcasts worldwide. We recognize that different cultures may find certain words offensive, so it is best to avoid any potential risks.
- We do not assume someone’s gender or sexual orientation
- We do not assume that conventional names are enough to precisely determine someone’s gender
-
We give proper credit to other person’s contributions
- We do not engage in intimidating behavior
